Black Clay Bowl & Spoon
Black Clay Bowl & Spoon
Black clay pottery is handmade in the village of La Chamba, along Colombia's Magdalena River. Each piece is made with natural clay from the area, fired and smoked on site, then hand-burnished to give it's distinct black, satin finish.
La Chamba pottery has ancient origins, dating back 700 years. It's widely used across Colombia to both prepare and serve food.
How to cook with Black Clay
Heats evenly and retains heat well. It can be used to cook or reheat food directly on a stovetop, in an oven or microwave, or even over an open fire. 🔥
Materials
Made with completely natural materials, no weird chemicals or lead. Its unglazed, black finish comes from the firing and smoking process before being hand burnished.
How to care for Black Clay
Cleans easily with warm, soapy water. It's not recommended to wash black clay in the dishwasher or leave it soaking for a long time. Like other cookware, avoid exposing it to sudden changes in temperature, like directly from refrigerator to oven.
Since each piece is handmade, there are slight variations in color, shape and size that make them unique.
